Shifting? How is it done?

Shifting means to create a change. What do we change? Our moods change. Our sitting positions change. We change the way we look at something. We are creating a change all the time. Every 7 minutes, we change automatically – it could be the way we are sitting, we could take a yawn; we might get up and stretch.

What does this have to do with hepatitis C? Everything actually. We experience fatigue all the time as a common side effect. We may feel tired for no reason. Constant fatigue is a downer on so many levels with HCV. The urge to go to bed and just lie there is very tempting.

Why is shifting an inside job? Any change one wants to make into a long lasting habit all starts within the mind. When you get an idea to make a salad, you first had the thought in your mind.

How can a shift with hepatitis C be an inside job? If we are frustrated with low energy and want to make a change, it all starts with a thought. We have the thought that we want to have more energy. And we keep having this thought because we are at the end of our rope of not having any energy to do the things we used to enjoy doing. As this thought persists, the next thing we are thinking about is it possible to have more energy? We begin to wonder about the possibility of it. Hope begins to flicker that there might be a remote possibility of becoming more energetic. That in itself is energizing for us. The possibility does exist.
